Top Three Tips to Finding the Right Jeans for you.
This week has been Jeans for Genes. So I’ve decided to talk about denium. Discover my top three tips on getting the best fitting jeans for you. Whatever your shape, size or budget you deserve a pair of jeans that you love and make you look amazing.
For some of us Jeans are a nightmare. 85 percent of women consider jeans a wardrobe staple. 55 percent of consumers said they wear denim jeans or shorts at least three times a week. And yet getting the right pair of jeans is a real struggle for most women. Getting the right cut and fit is key to falling in love with a pair of jeans you’ll wear over and over again.
So here are my top 3 tips for buying jeans that you will fall in love with.
Colour
Get the right colour so that they work with everything in your wardrobe. Here are my recommendations for the best colour denim for you. These days denim doesn't have to mean blue, however stick to neutral colours to start with.. They will work with more in your wardrobe.
If you have a fair complexion with light hair and light eyes opt for a light blue denim or acid wash.
If you have dark hair and dark eyes go for a darker denim light dark blue or black, these are on trend right now.
If you have red hair and tan well try a mid blue or brown denim.
And if you are cool with ash, black or grey hair and burn easily try a grey wash denim.
SHAPE
I know for many women, it's the shape that is the issue. Understanding a few key elements to your bodyshape will help you to understand which cut is going to balance you out and create the most flattering finish. Everyone can wear jeans when you understand this.
If you are wider on the shoulder than on your hips, go for jeans with shape on the bottom. A wide leg, flare or boot cut will add width to the bottom half and balance you out.
If you are wider on the hip and narrow on the shoulder consider a soft denim. Skinny jeans are grea but a flair will work too if the fabric is stretchy and not stiff.
If you have a long body and feel your legs are a little short, a high rise will elongate your leg and balance your long body.
Style
It’s now possible to buy every shape and so many colours, but let's look at what's trending and who it suits.
Wide Leg or puddle jeans
These have been big this year. Inspired by the 90’s trend these jeans are great for the athletic or inverted triangle. Consider if the denim is stiff or soft and which is better for your shape. If you are curvy, go for a softer denium.
Barrel Jeans
A modern twist on the straight leg, these look great with ankle boots. The cropped barrel jean is better on long legs but also apple shapes where you need to divide the body into thirds. But they can also be found in a long leg and high waist at Mango.
The Split Hem
These are similar in shape to the bootcut jean. Great for a rectangle. Don’t be afraid of detail on the hips to give you more shape if you are a rectangle.
Dark Denium.
This is great for those pear and full hourglass figures who are looking to minimise their bottom half. Wear a fabulose colour or print on top to also balance you out.
