How Colour Transforms Confidence

Shy, nervous and unable to look in the mirror? Do you judge your own reflection struggling to make eye contact with yourself for fear of how you look and will be judged? Find out how colour analysis transfored one ladies confidence.

Sams eyes seem worried and uncomfortable as she looks at the camera.

This reminds me of a client I once had. Walking into the studio with her shoulders rolled forward and head a little down, Sam seemed shy. She was lovely but she walked into my studio which presents you immediately with built-in mirrored wardrobe and a freestanding slimline mirror in front of the window. At the same time she was meeting me for the first time. Not that I'm scary (I hope not, anyway) but obviously I was bright and colourful, so maybe a little out there.

It became very obvious to me that Sam felt very nervous and uncomfortable looking at herself.

In the 2.5 hours we were together it was important for me to gently guide her towards the mirror. You need to look at yourself in the mirror and see what's happening to your complexion in a colour analysis. It’s important to me that you can see what's happening. How can I expect to connect with the process and understand its power if you don’t see it?

Sam starts to relax and feel happy to smile at the camera as her self judgment melts away.

In my position it's very normal and common for me to be watching your eyes, your expression. I wait till I can see you, see the colour making that difference. I purposely put wrong coloured drapes v’s the right colour drapes on a client. This really amplifies the impact colour makes and often helps my ladies see the transformation. Skin can go from washed out to full of colour, signs of aging can look heavier or less obvious, the colour of your eye can be dull or pop and spark to name just a few examples.

After we’d been through and discovered Sam's Dominant and secondary colour type, we moved on to makeup. Sam isn’t a big make up user so I went in with a subtle CC cream and left the lipstick to do all the talking. At this point I could start to see Sam relax a little. Her reflection looked fresh, younger and bright, she could see this beautiful woman staring back.

Sam felt confident enough to model this dress for her mums boutique ‘The Funky Hen Boutique’.

Still a little unsure, we started to go through all the colours in her wallet. We created a combination of light & dark neutrals with a fashion colour and spotted some fabulous WOW colours.

As we finished up Sam stood up. Her shoulders were relaxed and her head up, she seemed taller than when she walked in. There was an obvious transformation that made me so happy and excited in my studio that day. Sam seemed energized, more confident and exhilarated to go shopping.

I was lucky enough to spend more time with Sam doing a Style session and wardrobe detox with her. I recently messaged Sam and asked how she was.
